Menopause, whether natural or surgical, is associated with symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, and diminished libido (sex drive). Andropause, or male menopause, is also associated with diminished libido (sex drive). In some women and men, diminished libido is seen before menopause or andropause. These symptoms, in addition to fatigue and decreased muscle strength, may be amenable to testosterone alone (men and women), estrogen (women), or estrogen with testosterone (women) in the form of bioidentical hormone pellets. The pellets will be placed under local anesthesia, in the office, under the skin in the hip area.

These pellets last approximately 3 months for women, and 6 months for men. A consultation will include a thorough history and physical, comprehensive labs, and a follow-up appointment to discuss the lab results and the proposed treatment plan.
